I will be frank. I am not sure if I can even call this recipe a proper juice simply based on the fact it’s a two step process. I’ve been chugging this one nearly every day in an attempt to stay away from juice but also keep my hydration interesting.
Every time I go to the grocery store, I find myself staring at the grocery baskets of other shoppers and while I do my best not to judge, I am human. Typically, you’ll see a carton of $3-4 juice and if they’re shopping for a family (which you can always tell) you may see several. It’s quite common these days for kids to fill up on sugar juices before they even touch their meal. I have to thank my mom for being the exception and setting me on a different path early on. Growing up, we didn’t have soda in the house. If we had juice, it was orange juice and only once every blue moon. The most variety we got was a flavored sparkling water and the filtered water that came out of the fridge. It’s made it easy for me to seek out juice alternatives. In fact, I know if I were to even have a glass I’d get that nasty sugar coating in my mouth for the rest of the night.
This juice is as simple as it gets.
Mix 1 part fresh squeezed grapefruit juice to 1.5 parts sparking water.
Voila! That’s it my friend. Swirl it together and if you like the nicer aesthetics, pour it in your favorite glassware. Let me know if you try this recipe in the comments below!
