I'm a former tech executive who traded a corporate paycheck for a paid off house, homeschooled kids, and a family that hasn't needed the grocery store the same way in years - all from a suburban ranch home with no farm (yet).

Hi! I'm Janiece

Smoothies are a delicious and nutritious way to start your child’s day. If your home is anything like mine, it can be hard to get your little one to try something new – especially something green and new. “Ew no” is a common phrase thrown around in our home especially followed by the sound of toddler steps running away. I am going to share smoothie recipes that work well in my home and keep our little village full of nutrient-dense energy

Packed with fruits and vegetables, smoothies provide a boost of vitamins and minerals to keep your little one healthy and happy. But finding a smoothie recipe that your picky toddler will actually enjoy can be a challenge. That’s why we’ve gathered a collection of kid-friendly, toddler-approved smoothie recipes that are sure to please even the fussiest eaters.

When it comes to creating smoothies for toddlers, it’s important to focus on flavors and textures that they love. For example, my daughter loves pink and so strawberry is an instant favorite for us. Strawberries also hold their color fairly well. That’s why our recipes include a variety of fruits like bananas, strawberries, mango, and blueberries, which are all kid favorites. I mean, what kid doesn’t love the sweet flavor of mangos and blueberries? We also sneak in some vegetables like spinach, cauliflower, or kale to add an extra boost of nutrients, but don’t worry, your little one won’t even taste them! We’ve been able to successfully add in chia seeds, greek yogurt, and other healthy fats to our little picky eater with no problem. By the end of this, you’ll be able to pat yourself on the back. So, if you’re looking for some tasty and nutritious smoothie recipes that your toddler will actually enjoy, look no further. Our kid-friendly, toddler-approved smoothies are sure to be a hit with your little one.

Best Smoothie Ingredients that Work in Any Recipe

Often times, when I see people trying to make smoothies at home, they’re trying to approach it with exact perfection. Smoothies are an art, not a science. As long as you have the right base ingredients around most of the time, you can come out with a great smoothies for yourself and a delicious kid-friendly smoothie. Before we jump into the recipes, let me give you a few ingredients I recommend you keep around the house for those ‘just in case’ moments.

  • Oats
  • Greek yogurt
  • Handful of spinach
  • Frozen fruit (extends the life beyond non-frozen fruit)
  • Watermelon
  • Coconut milk
  • Hemp seeds
  • Avocado

These are just a few ideas. The general idea is that you want to have a mix of fruit, vegetables, healthy fats and seeds. If you have that foundation, you’re in business!

You’re sure to have your kids love one of these recipes if not all of them! For our most skeptical eaters, a teaspoon of sprinkles or flax on top may make it more enticing to try. When you find a great recipe that you and your little ones love (because you get to enjoy these too, you know?), you can start to prepare them fresh or frozen. If you’d like to pre-make these, simple freeze all of the ingredients in a freezer safe container and enjoy anytime. You may need t add a dash of extra almond milk (or milk of your choice) if it gets too chunky and you want a smoother yield.

That’s it for now! Be sure to give yourself a good reason to healthily indulge before the end of summer, my friends. Catch you next time!
